Section: "Ethics goes into the company"

Winner: Lavazza for the street art project “Toward 2030 What Are You Doing

The walls of Turin are colored to promote the sustainable development of the planet. The recognition, established by the "Premio Res Publica for Civic Sense and Good Government" association, will be delivered in Mondovì on 27 October next.

Lavazza was awarded the 2019 Res Publica International Prize, which is awarded to individuals, associations and foundations that work for the common good. For this second edition, three excellences have been identified: entrepreneurial, didactic, journalistic. The winners of the educational and journalistic sections will be announced in the coming days. Dozens of candidates were selected and the choice of winners took place after an in-depth and complex evaluation, which rewarded the uniqueness and originality of the testimony.

The "Res Publica Prize for Civic Sense and Good Governance" association chose the Turin-based company "for the extraordinary socio-ethical structure" it has created over the years, including through its Foundation, and in particular for the TOward 2030 project What Are You Doing: an open-air artistic journey that bears witness to and amplifies the 17 (+1) United Nations goals in favor of sustainable development and their dissemination represented by Goal 0.

"The universal language of the street art works sponsored by Lavazza and splendidly created by urban artists including Ernest Zacharevic - says Antonio Maria Costa, former Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations - is unique in its effectiveness. The jury interpreted Lavazza's commitment as consistent with the mission of the Res Publica Award".

TOward 2030 What Are You Doing was commissioned by Lavazza, together with the City of Turin, to remind that the UN has set 2030 as the deadline for safeguarding planet Earth and intends to raise awareness of a responsible commitment in Turin. With TOward 2030 What Are You Doing the walls of Turin are colored with positive messages and responsible commitment, thus giving shape to the sustainable development goals of the United Nations, in a pop and contemporary key, through works of urban art.
