The Prize Res Publica 2025

1. Section: Peace is Common Destiny

The Jury awards the 2025 Res Publica International Prize for Peace as Common Destiny to the Combattants for Peace (Gaza), in the name fo Rana Salma and Eszter Korany - a pace-inspired movement dedicated to non violence and the understanding between peoples and cultures.

Their admirable efforts promote peace so that people living in lands ravaged by war and hatred are free to thrive and live in dignity. Relying on individual commitment and a community of purpose in the Middle East and beyond, the Combatants for Peace embody, in inspiration and actions, the fundamental principles of the Prize: the protection of life and the common good.

2. Section: Solidarity and Inclusion

The jury honors the extraordinary experience of Talitha Kum, which has promoted the defense of people from violence and exploitation throughout the world. The strength of the Talitha Kum network lies in the commitment of its grassroots participants and its person- and community-centered approach.

Founded in 2009 by the International Union of Superiors General  (UISG) as a global initiative against human trafficking and exploitation, Talitha Kum promotes collaboration and supports victims and survivors. Each participant maintains its own institutional and operational identity, while the International Coordination (UISG) supports capacity building, facilitating the sharing of information, resources, and experiences.

3. Section: Rights and Dignity

The 2025 Res Publica Prize for Rights and Dignity is awarded to Tresor (Mukengerwa Riziki) for the extraordinary socio-ethical commitment he has built over the years, despite the personal risks he has faced.

Tresor invites all of us to confront prejudices and obstacles to human dignity by engaging our abilities, wherever and whenever—at work, at school, at home. He does so simply with music, gestures, and actions in a tormented continent. The universal language of Tresor's creations is unique in its effectiveness.

4. Section: 4. Section Defence and Security

The 2025 Res Publica Award for Defense and Security is presented to the Carabinieri, a military force with general police responsibilities, for its extraordinary ethical and professional commitment over the past two centuries. The Carabinieri's activities demonstrate that society as a whole must benefit from efforts to ensure peace and dignity.

"Security, beyond being a constitutional requirement, is a matter of dignity," writes President Sergio Mattarella, who calls for "a concerted effort to promote harmony and stability." The jury interprets the Carabinieri's commitment as fully consistent with this goal.
